Bath Organic Group was established in 1986, as a splinter group of Avon Garden Club in Bristol. Two years later, BOG (as it’s known by its members and friends) took on the tenancy of a section of Lower Common West allotment site where there were 10 (later expanded to 19) unworked plots. After two more years of hard work, planting hedges, digging the plots, creating a pond, planting fruit trees and soft fruit – interspersed with a lot of social activity – an organic demonstration garden was developed, formally opened by the Mayor of Bath in May 1991.
